31 August, 2013 - "Nickelsville", Seattle
Artist at work by the main gate of 'Nickelsville' on the eve of the City of Seattle's deadline for all residents to abandon the camp site.
To protect residents from harassment and theft the camp operated it's own security including a booth at the main gate staffed by Nickelsville volunteers. The camp was regarded exceptional by its residents in it's ambition to keep families and even pets together and provide a safe environment.
